1. Turn the Chain Wear Indicator to the correct orientation for either 0.75% or 1.00% elongation measurement.
2. Lower the Chain Wear Indicator onto the top of the chain, engaging the bridged end over one of the chain rollers.
3. Allow the spiked end of the Chain Wear Indicator to 'drop' towards the chain, the position at which it comes to rest will indicate the elongation of the chain.
If the Chain Wear Indicator has come to rest at position 'A' the chain is in good condition.
If the Chain Wear Indicator has come to rest at position 'B' the chain has elongated past the manufacturers specified elongation and should be replaced.
A position between the two shows the severity of the chains elongation.
